13 June 2009

Morning All

Great News the birds have been liberated at 7.20 into a light south wind which will be varible on route. I would say for a National Winner were looking around 8 hours 40 so thats around 4pm this is about 45mph average speed. But you never know with our feathered friends. I am hoping for at least 30 % on the day but this will test these yearlings to there limits and thats what we all have been waiting for a true race with no holdover great. As soon as there are 10 birds back or so i will put the early result online asap. May we wish everyone the best of luck.

12 June 2009

Hello All

Looking at the Weather in France it looks very good with a light East wind at the start turning to a light south west over the Channel. The only concern would be the mist over the Channel but we will leave to the experts to decide tomorrow morning and hopefully we will get a liberation. Will update on here of any news in the morning.

Jeremy..

11 June 2009

Hello All

The birds have been Marked with the British Barcelona Club and are now on there way to Poitiers. This will be there biggest challange of there lives 394 miles and they have to contend with the Channel on route. We were very pleased with the condition of the birds so lets hope the weather is on side and we get a early lib Saturday. Everyone is Welcome at the lofts with Free tea and bacon babs and a few cans of larger if you feel like it this will be on the go around 1pm. So if you want a bit of a banter and to cheer the birds on see you Saturday lunchtime

Will update tomorrow night with a update on the Prospect of a liberation with the Weather.

Jeremy..

Also 2 more birds were back last night so just 1 birds away Sheppard & James blue cock which we had back in a box a few weeks ago but gave it another go. Its a cracking day here just what they need Sun on there backs. Its time now to get them ready for Lessay the Semi Final £1000 1st Prize. Its not the distance its the channel that will take a % out but were looking for the best of the cream and the next 2 races will sure find that...

20 May 2009

Hello All

We trained the birds a short spin of 5 miles lunchtime just to give them a quick show of each other but i never put the ets on for this distance. They came in 5 Minutes and trapped supersonic to have a quick kiss and cuddle. They were split then a few hours later flowen round the pen for a hour each. Also on last weeks race the One loft birds finished 16th, 17, 18th Fed from over 2400 birds i have a good feeling if they have a head wind Saturday they could top it.

Next update will be Saturday Morning with the Marked list..

06 January 2009

Greetings All.

Well i hope you all had a enjoyable time over Christmas and New year

Well at the loft's we have had a well earned rest from the stresses of one loft racing being the first season of the Yearling races and a difficult season with the young bird series of races. Now i must say this team of 170 Yearlings have come through a faultless moult and there health is 100 %. They will be having there Vaccinations in this coming month and before they are trained they will have there blood and droppings tested. This Year they will be flowen on the Roundabout System. This week we are doing some small alterations on the loft with a new trapping system designed by myself and made up by Redstar lofts also we are putting a 2 ft draught board in the roof. Up to now there have been no losses from loft flying so you all know that your birds are safe and sound. We are just waiting for everyone to finalise there syndicate names before we put a full loft list on so if you have not told Tracey at the Reddings please do so asap.Looking at a race programme there will be 4 or maybe 5 inland races and 2 channel races with the final 350- 400 miles. When we can confirm the race points and dates this information will be put online early part of March. There will be new photo's and video's put online next month. Feel free to phone me if you need any more information or just want a chat on 07739148679..

Yearling Loft Managers report 2008

Well it’s the 27Th of October and the weather we are having now is certainly a
lot better than we had in this year’s race season. This year we had the new Yearling
one loft race to contend with being the first one loft race in the UK to bring this on board.
We had planned to start off in the 3rd week in April from the race point Wincanton but with the very cold weather with a bitter NE wind we decided to leave them in the loft. As that race turned out for the Federation to be a bad race we had made the right choice to leave them in the loft. The following 2 weeks the weather was much the same so we left them at home then the weather changed for the better and the Yearling loft had their 1st race from Exeter racing against just over 2000 birds in the fed. The 1st timer took 7Th fed and 1st club, this set the scene for the next 2 races from Kingsdown and Yelverton with the one loft birds & my own birds dominating the prizes in the club. We then went on with their 1st channel race with the NFC with a distance of 259 miles this being a 5 day holdover this took their toll on the birds with the stress of this they still came to take 7Th Section and many other top 20 positions. My own birds were in the race and took 1st & 6Th section this I put down being they were 2 year olds and had a lot more experience than the Yearlings. It was a tough race with a NE wind and it took the Yearlings time to recover so we put their Final race back a week to fly from Tours with the M.N.F.C this race turned out to be a success with good returns from this race with a west and with our position being in the west against the drag it was always going to be tough. We had a winner out in front taking 1st Prize Of £5000 a class blue hen entered by Trevor Cook this bird also took the Ace bird award of a £1000.This bird as a young bird did nothing special in the Young bird series but was always consistent and as we always know if they fail to do the honours as a youngster they can reward the following year which this bird certainly proved. We have learnt from 2008 and we have changed a few things for the 2009 Yearling race programme. We will be looking at 4 inland races to get them used to going up with other birds etc, then there first channel race will be with a Federation so they are not dragged all over the place first time over this will give them the confidence they will need to go to their final race which if the programmes are similar this could be with the BBC Poitier's which is 394 miles a true test for any Yearling, but until all the specialist clubs finalist there race programmes and how the Season progresses will we leave it nearer the time. As you can see by the photo's the 2009 Entrants are settled into the Yearling loft and as we speak there are only 20 odd places left from the 180 to fill, so why not have a go buy a bird out from the current auction and Enter a bird or 2 in. Your find this great fun following your bird and a chance to win big prizes and also the chance to win a National race. The 2009 young bird race is filling up at a rapid pace so the Future look very bright for the 2009 R.P.R.A One Loft Race. We look forward to seeing old and new faces in 2009.

Jeremy & Tim Davies....

Hello All

I will get a video on this month of them and you will able to see what fine fettle they are in. Training will start in 3 weeks before there first race and all the results will be online. If your like me i cannot wait for it to start. That's about it for now.
