| Thursday Marking - 30 June 2011Evening
Marked list is now online. The birds were race marked lunchtime and are now on there way with the M.N.F.C to race from Tours against 4800 birds which is a very good turnout. The forecast is very good weather wise for Saturday but they will face a NE wind in France then over in the uk a very light east wind so its not going to be a blow home and i am thinking were have a pigeon here in 8.5 hours which is round the 40mph mark. The birds are in great condition so its up to them now..
I will update late tomorrow night of the latest on the weather front etc.
Link of the wind for Saturday http://www.xcweather.co.uk/FR/forecast
Jeremy.. |
| Tuesday - 28 June 2011Morning
The birds are looking good and they won't need another toss before we basket them for the final Thursday morning. They will be racing with and against the M.N.F.C. Tours race on Saturday, the weather is looking good at the moment with the wind looking it could have some east in the wind. There will be a barbecue at the lofts from 1pm so entrants are welcome to come and cheer the winner home.
Will put a marked list on Thursday night..

| Sunday Night - 12 June 2011Evening
Well a few more brave hearts came today with one just coming. The weather today has been alwfull with heavy rain from the early hours and has only just stopped at 8pm which has stopped more working in as there not going to get up in this weather but i am sure over the next few days there keep coming as i know they have got what it takes.
Its interesting to look back at what some of these birds did as young birds for an example Bellchambers Blue Cock that won yesterday was also 7th open in the final young bird race dropping with the winner winning £2000 & yesterday it won another £1000 prize money. Then we have Treasure Cot which is entered by Bill Townley that came 3rd Open in the final young bird race winning nearly £6000 and yesterday it came fourth. What this is proving that the Ace pigeons on the North can also be Ace pigeons on the South up on there own with a one loft or racing in a Federation. Have a look yourself through the results its interesting. We have had another 4 turn in from previous races or trainers will update the loft list tomorrow night 9pm..
Speak soon..
Jeremy.. |
| Saturday Race Day - 11 June 201121.40 Update

For a bit of fun i sent one of my own pigeons to the BBC National Poitiers race 394 miles to me and she time in after 9 hours 23 minutes standing at 38th open at the moment so it was a good day at Birtsmorton. It looks like for next week end the wind is turning to NE which is what they need to steady them up on the racing. We may well train tuesday so will update evening time of the latest..

Jeremy.. |
| Liberation - 07 May 2011Update 20.15
Evening
First off well done the winners the leading pigeon also took 5th club from just over 300 birds not bad for its first race on the south. The pigeons that are home need a medal as its been a very hard day for them after a late liberation with the Severn Valley Federation with 2000 plus birds then been attacked by a falcon and have been told it caught one they then had to contend with heavy showers on-route as some arrived had pink wattles they had SE wind but very muggy. Dont forget these have never been up with a federation before and have been raced north 220 miles and now south 115 miles the birds are a class act to cope with this. Its been heavy rain since 6pm so it stopped play for more to return but the forecast is better tomorrow so i am sure more will work in. The ets clock had to be done early to its has been struck off by the club. Tomorrow night 8pm i will do a complete update of the birds in the loft as had another couple from the last training toss.
Jeremy..
Update 11.45am
The Severn Valley Federation have released at 11.30 am and from the race advisor Martin some have not cleared at the lib site and there is a Falcon up there with them so i don't know what type of race were going to have. I expect some to arrive not long after to 2 hour mark about 13.30 plus will update first arrivals about 15.30. All the best..
Jeremy.. |
| Friday Marking - 06 May 2011Late Evening
Hello All
162 birds have been marked and 18 birds have been left in the pen to recover from there last training toss we had another 2 back today. I will update this page tomorrow of any news on a liberation..
Jeremy.. |
| Thursday - 05 May 2011Evening
I have put an loft list on we have had another 15 birds work in today and they have done alot of Flying so it will not be fair to send these 15 to this weekends race. The 160 plus birds i had a good look over them and all seems well and tonight they had a good few hours open loft and a good bath. I have fed them up and they will be full of energy come Saturday it will be up to them to sort it out racing with the Severn Valley Federation against 2000 plus birds from 115 miles will not trying to win at the moment just trying to get as many home as possible. Will put a Marked list on either late tomorrow night or Early Saturday morning depending what time i get home after marking.
Speak soon..
Jeremy.. |
| Wednesday Training - 04 May 2011Update 21.30 Result on loft list tab..
Evening
Took them to the 30 mile point today and released them at a crate at a time and when i was 3/4 way through the crates droves of welsh pigeons went through just after 12 mid day taking alot of the Yearlings with them and by the look of things down into Wales. They have been working in steady with 160 now on the clock so its a big blow to us so close to there first race. The birds that are back are boncing and all look well. Were going to get birds work in tomorrow and the ones that do if there run down then of course i will not send them to the first race and this would not be fair on there welfare but the 160 plus birds will be going if we are happy with them.. Will get a list on just after 9pm as there still dropping. It was like a race to them today being dropped in with the welsh birds but i did not realise they would be about. Ps please add an hour onto the times as its still winter times on the ets clock untill its re set at the club on there first race this goes on all previous results but i have adjusted the lib time to match up the times..
Will update a loft list tomorrow night etc..
Jeremy.. |
| Tuesday - 03 May 2011Hello All
I had to deal with some urgent matters today that needed to be taken care of none pigeon related so we will be training tomorrow.
Until then.
Jeremy.. |
| Sunday Training - 01 May 2011Evening
We trained today at 20 miles would of liked further but the winds were to strong to take any chances. They were released at a crate at a time to break them up but some got together on route as there were 12 crates but they came well in a strong ne wind not the best wind for yearlings. no 1 spot is a late return that jumped on the pad in the loft, todays training is on the loft list tab. There last training toss before there first race will be Tuesday then Hot Spot one will be next Saturday as planned all being well..
Speak on Tuesday
Jeremy.. |
| Update - 30 April 2011Morning

Jeremy.. |
| Tuesday Update - 26 April 2011Evening
Sorry for my late update i did train yesterday the hens came fairy well and the cocks were split up some taking hours on the wings but bouncing when they arrived. I think that they are getting stale of the basket being split up chased by bop as old birds can so i am going to loft fly them for a bit and bring the love of home back to them and will give them another couple of training tosses before the first race on May 7th but nothing to heavy. Result on loft list tab.
I will let you know when the next trainer will be but it won't be before Friday..
Speak soon.. |

We have 200 back at the moment and hopefully a few more will turn in with race birds about they have done well to work in today with the heat. Will put an updated list on tomorrow night as its late now.
Jeremy.. |
| Thursday Training - 21 April 2011Evening
Well they went to the 32 mile stage today cocks up first which cleared well online and hens up 35 minutes later which cleared online but they both had a sticky one with 176 birds on the clock at present alot have been coming in singles from the South so some may of thought they were back on the North Road !! I released my own birds in between the time of the one loft birds in 3 batches and only one away and this being only there 2nd toss so God knows why the Yearlings make hard work of it as they look so well but it could be the switch round but the Cream will be there on the Final race. Sure will have more turn in tonight and tomorrow will put a result on later on the loft list tab and then will update tomorrow night. We will then re group and see what Sunday brings..
Speak soon
Jeremy.. |
| Tuesday Training - 19 April 2011Hello All
I trained at the 22 mile point today had planned to go to the 32 mile point but there was alot of low lying mist about down the Severn Valley. Anyway cocks up first again which i noticed other trainers going over which the cocks chased thinking they were the hens i expect so they were longer than they should of been and the hens caught up with them and so some arrived together and when i got back it was party time at the lofts, anyway they are all home which is the main thing.
Thursday we will be at the 32 mile point unless the weather is bad , we are on track with over 2 weeks before the first race , i am happy with there condition so will be glad to start racing with them. Result on later tonight but dont take to much notice of the times as they had other things on there mind.
Jeremy.. |
| Sunday Training - 17 April 2011Evening
I took them to the 22 training mile point today this time releasing the cocks first with them doing half a circle and off direct home with them making a good time, 20 minutes later hens were up but they messed about a bit and were split up so we just need them to click in there heads. Will put a result on later on the loft list tab plus it will be added to the calendar.
Speak soon
Jeremy.. |
| Friday - 15 April 2011Hello All
Did not train today as decided to leave them overnight together, we will train on Sunday as i have a wedding to go to tomorrow.
Speak Sunday
Jeremy.. |
| Thursday Training - 14 April 2011Hello All
I took them 15 miles today as it was full cloud cover and i wanted to put happiness back into the Hens i released them all together so when they arrived home they could have a good time and to give them a love of home.
This worked well apart from some were more interested in mating on the loft , under it and anywhere else they could find but this is why they race home and win races. The times are on today as they went up together but they arrived more or less together so dont think you bird was behind as they were just having a good time lol. Will now go and split them and then may train tomorrow but seperated this time but once a week up together, i plan soon to lib 25 at a time when i feel the time is right. The weather looks good in the week ahead which helps. I will put todays result on the loft list tab as well as the calendar.

We will split again in the morning and then train again tomorrow or Friday. I will send yesterdays training result to Anton so will be on late tonight or tomorrow.

| Training Toss One - 18 March 2011Hello All
We had a chance today to train this afternoon around 3pm the hens were liberated first which they cleared well but headed south as far as the eye could see then they turned came back to lib point then south again then turned back north and headed home this took almost 20 minutes but i knew this would happen being there first toss south.
.A phone call back to Alex waiting at the lofts the hens are home and trapped. So then i released the cocks and they did much the same but i am pretty sure after a few tosses there soon get the hang of being trained and race south.
I did have the timing on just need to tweak the software tonight and will send this to Anton so all being well this will be online by tomorrow night. I won't put the times on just yet till were further down the line of flight but will put a result on each toss but dont forget the cocks are released 20 mins later at the moment.
Will update tomorrow night of the latest..

| 2011 Yearlings - 24 November 2010Hello All
Its that time again out with the old and in with the new. We have around 230 Yearlings in the loft at the moment which is 30 more that last year.
Because of this we are at the present self building another section plus a walk in grilled bathing section which will take care of the needs of the extra birds plus all the birds will enjoy this extra avairy for the bathing times..
Before the New Year all birds will be going out on the nice sunny days so they bond well to the Yearling loft. It will be a challenge on them turning south and racing over the channel but the very best will come through to the end.
They will have there Hot Spots racing against the Severn Valley Federation which will set them up for the final race with one of the Nationals which will be decided nearer the time..
Over the next month will put a full list of the 2011 Yearling Entrants in the loft plus some photo's of them..

| Sunday 8pm Update - 08 May 2011Evening
Well i woke up this morning and i was glad to see it had stopped raining so i started waiting from 6am to see if we get any early arrivals and within a few minutes we had the first one and and by 8am another 20 had arrived and then we had more working in all day.List on loft list tab.
They have done well to come home after the conditions last night and the attack at the liberation point etc as these being yearlings and there first race with a federation on the south road. Now its my main aim to bring them back into race condition for next weekends race Yelverton 130 miles and i am sure every race they have they will get better with experince. I will do another loft list Tuesday night and let you know how things are going..

| Friday Marking - 06 May 2011Late Evening

| Tuesday Update - 26 April 2011Evening
Sorry for my late update i did train yesterday the hens came fairy well and the cocks were split up some taking hours on the wings but bouncing when they arrived. I think that they are getting stale of the basket being split up chased by bop as old birds can so i am going to loft fly them for a bit and bring the love of home back to them and will give them another couple of training tosses before the first race on May 7th but nothing to heavy. Result on loft list tab.
I will let you know when the next trainer will be but it won't be before Friday..

Speak tomorrow

| Sunday Training - 10 April 2011Evening
I have my truck back and a nice bill to go with it lol. Anyway back to the training i took them to the 20 mile point both sexs cleared well but both sexs were split up at the home end with 200 home when i arrived back and we are about 2 birds down at the moment but still time.
East wind clear blue sky's moon showing not perfect as some might think but i am not going to complain.Plenty of other trainers about today but that will do them good. There keep going to this point until they know it like the back of there wings as this is there breaking point.Next trainer will be Tuesday. Result on late tonight or tomorrow.
Jeremy.. |
| Friday Training - 08 April 2011Afternoon

Then next week we will do the same nice and steady until the first race at the end of April. If you check back tomorrow night will put a result up and how the first training toss has gone.

| Yearling Update - 21 February 2011Hello All
Everything is in good order with the Yearlings ,we handled all of them last week and checked them over taking there colour & sex for there new Unikon ets rings which have been uploaded onto the pocket clock so now we can put these tags on in the next week then call them over the pads to make sure all is working correct.. On taking the ring numbers last week we took account of the numbers 117 hens & 117 cocks some of these may change but how lucky were we on the equal number of sexes !!!!
When we get them over the pads will get a list on for you with the one loft software but they were all there last week..
Its the FOS meeting soon so we will chat the race programme over to set them up for the final race with one of the Nationals..
Will update sometime next week on how things are going...

| ******************* Seasons Greetings ********************** - 24 December 2010Hello All
Everything is well here at Birtsmorton and if you go into the Gallery your see we have put a extension on the Yearling loft to accommodate the extra pigeons we have entered for the 2011 race season. We have not had the birds out with the Snow & Artic conditions but when the time is right they will be out daily ready for the training late March.
Thank you again for all the support that you have gave me, my family, and anyone involved with the one loft race without you we could not make this race so successful..
We would like wish everyone a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year , Friends of old and new ones to be..
Kind Regards
Jeremy... |
Speak soon..
