Hello All
Hope you are all keeping well.I expect like me your thinking ahead on improvements to be made for the 2010 season. There will be a meeting at the end of October with new ideas being put forward for the 2010 One Loft Race.At present i have moved 150 birds over to the Yearling loft as the deposits have been paid. There will be more moved over the next two weeks and also i had many phone calls wanting to buy out from the young bird auction and enter them into the Yearling race. So looks like we will have another good team to take the world on
Its also coming to the time now to take pictures of the young birds going to auction and will do my best to get a good snap of your pigeons. Another 2 birds have returned to the loft so please keep checking the loft list to see if you have had a pigeon return. I will take some pictures of the 2010 yearlings when they have come through the moult and have a walk round with the Video camera.
Speak soon.

31 August 2009

Afternoon

Well what a great day we had at the lofts yesterday apart from the weather. The birds showed us what they can do with the weather on route being cloudy and hitting light rain in places. A fast race was on the cards as the wind was behind them and getting stronger all the time. At the lofts a large crowd waited drinking and enjoying the food and then i saw a batch high up bang online racing to the lofts. These trapped perfect with every batch coming trapping with great speed in a short time we had well over 200 back at the lofts. And by nightfall just short of 300. A good days racing was had by all. The birds today went out and had a bath relax then called in just after 1pm these on the pads just after are birds that turned in from the race while they were out. This week we will put them into sections ready to transfer over to the yearling loft or Auction. This year the Yearling loft will be filled again as many have been on the phone wanting in after this years success being 1st Federation and then 2nd open BBC National 400 miles againts the cream of the country. Will update daily of anymore returns and news. There will be a winners report coming in the next week.

They cleared in one batch racing online they got about half a mile away then a Falcon shot out from the clouds into them and luckily missed but this split them into 3 batches which they turned back to the lib point only to turn and go wide of the striking point which then left the Falcon with no dinner this time. When i arrived back to the loft pleased to see they were in and had there starter meal. We left them in for an hour then they were back out for a hour to relax and get over the stress they were called in then just before 3 for there main feed. 19 August 2009

Evening All

Well i made my way down to Newton Abbot for Hot Spot 4 and when i got within 15 miles off Exeter the weather had a turn for the worse with Black clouds and drizzel coming in. I phoned the site agent and he said the same that it did not look good there. I had come past Taunton and the weather was good there so i made my way back to that race point. When i arrived put the water on the birds and let them settle for an hour they were liberated into a South wind which they got into one batch and headed off line ENE and watched them then split into 2 batches with one pulling back online and then they were out of sight i then had a feeling we were going to have a patchy race. Back at the lofts the spectators said that most were coming from the East and not many online. There still working in and lets hope most work back and we will do our best to get them right for the Final race. Well done to the prize winners and its nice to see Flimby School in 2nd place as this had a night out in the last race. Will update result at 9pm and through the day tomorrow..

Hello All

Not much to tell you apart from the birds are looking good for there rest and we will hopefully Mark Sunday race Monday ? if the weather is good enough. Monday is not looking good at the moment but this may change. Will give an update tomorrow night.

Jeremy..

30 July 2009

Evening

The young birds today had an open loft for a few hours and really enjoyed themselves basking in the Sun which will take alot of the stress away with this being there 3rd day rest i can see them starting to come back to form which i think there just be about right for Sunday Marking.. Will let you know tomorrow night of any more news.

Jeremy...

29 July 2009

Evening

After the meeting with the FOS and with the Loft Managers advice we wont try for our 1st Hot Spot until Monday 3rd of August with Marking on the 2nd this will be weather permitting of course. The birds look good but after the last 2 training tosses we had a feeling they were not navigating as they should and with that we are not willing to take the chance with the birds. As i said before the best tonic is rest from training just free loft flying each day as now with there previous training they know where they live. So a complete rest now until marking Sunday then a short Hot Spot Monday and then they will follow on with the 2nd Hot Spot at the end of that week. I am sure your all understand this is in the best intrest of the birds. Speak tomorrow night of how things are at the lofts.

Jeremy...

28 July 2009

Hello All

Loft list now online but maybe a couple more as some play silly buggers to get in. Today they have had open loft for a few hours and have enjoyed a rest in the Sun. We are having a FOS meeting at the lofts tomorrow and from this we will decide when to mark and have the race. Will update tomorrow night with the latest news.

Jeremy..

27 July 2009

6 PM

Evening

Well took the birds back to the same lib point as they went from yesterday but this time with 80 % blue sky. The birds did not clear very well and they broke into 3 batches one going off good the other 2 doing large lines of the lib point then after 10 minutes could not see them. In previous years that from this lib point they clear well and make good time when all is right and from yesterdays training and todays its telling us something is not right as last week they were racing home well from the 42 mile point with no problems. The birds look a picture but that does not mean a thing if there not navigating right. The first hot spot will be at the end of the week either Thursday or Friday depending on the weather etc but they won't go any further than around the 40 mile mark on this hot spot. The following week they won't go to Taunton unless we are 100 % happy that we can have a good race. The birds have been treated for the head etc so i think the best tonic they can have right now is rest until there 1st hot spot at the end of the week so todays training is there last one. I will update tomorrow night with a loft list and the latest news.

Jeremy...

Just a quick note to say we hope to get a trainer in afternoon as the weather in the morning as good for the ducks, will get a result on 6pm.

Speak soon.

Training online Box 14 but having trouble uploading the Unikon result website problems i think will try to put the proper one on later. Anyway they were liberated at 9.25 into a tail wind the first batch did over a mile minute and the other batches were about an hour for some reason may have gone round the showers on route. Anyway they will keep going there until hopefully they will all come under 35 minutes. Will be back there in the morning and if they do well will move on to the 42 mile site later in the week.

Jeremy..

18 July 2009

Hello All

Today's training now online Box 13. Liberated the birds today at 30 miles cleared well online. Its always a risk to train on race day and alot of trainers about today but we must go when the weather is good as today. When arrived back from training only half were back and Tim tells me there all coming back from the north east. Anyway kits kepted working in from the NE with other young birds and old birds with them so looks like they have had a chase with every pack in the sky which in the long run will do them good as this won't be the last time they come across other teams of birds but it does not do my nerves anygood!!! Anyway at 13.00 there are 600 back so we are about 20 down but hopefully most of these will work in at the end of the day. We will be back at 30 miles tomorrow so check back then about lunchtime for the result..

Jeremy..

17 July 2009

Evening All

Hello All

Well took the birds to the 8 mile point at 5 pm they bunched in one group then out from blue 2 peregrine falcons came at them with one shooting in the pack grabbing one with this the others scattered with some going into a near bye wood to hide. Got back to the loft none back!! then after a hour kits have been working in with 100 dropping at 8 pm. On the pads 596 birds at the moment with birds still dropping in. All i can say is i think we are lucky that many are home and we are sure more will work in tomorrow. Our luck this year is against us hopefully things will change for the better soon. Will not train tomorrow and will put a full loft list on tomorrow night as now think we have sorted the ETS. We will give them 2 days then back to work all being well...

Hello All

Training in box one...

Thankyou for all the phone calls etc for the very welcome support after the Flyaway. We now need to put this behind us and get as many pigeons to the final as we can. They have had two short 3 mile tosses this week and will move on next week. The birds are looking well so its time for them to work. Will give them another short spin tomorrow. No times as yet just need to tweak the trapping. Tomorrow will update on the news page of how things are going. " Tip "press CTRL button and the F key the same time will bring up a search box type part of your name in and your find your pigeons easy on every toss. ie type "pallet"and your find Dean Pallet has 10 from 10 etc

22 June 2009

21 June 2009 10pm

Hello All
Not good news i am afraid the young birds were let of for exercise Sunday morning they flew for a good hour and baths were put down for them ready for the training ahead of them tomorrow. Gaby my loft assistant came rushing over to tell me 2 para gliders had come low over the lofts and complete panic had set in. I rushed down to the lofts to find no pigeons and 2 para gliders going off into the distance. After about an hour a batch of about 200 hundred dropped onto the loft but still very panic stricken. Then from then up till dark small batches have been dropping. At dark i have done a head count and about 640 birds are back at the lofts and that is from about 900 birds that were in the lofts after the first few spins sickness etc.I am sure more will work in and get reported but this is the last thing we wanted for you the entrants. Will give them a few days then hopefully resume training. Will update tomorrow of any more news of more working in. These para gliders must of been from the 3 counties show 5 miles away and i will be sending a letter to the organisers for them coming low over live stock etc . From a very wound up Jeremy good night all..

19 June 2009

Hello All

They have been having short spins on the trailer today only from 3 miles but they still have to navigate as they were 25 minutes from there the last i saw of them they were heading south in 2 large groups and when i got back to the loft no sign of any!!! I can tell you its not a nice feeling but it was not for long as 2 kits came racing back from the south for there dinner. They will be at 5 miles next week and they won't be moved on until there out and back in 5 minutes. Results we be online End of next week...

Jeremy..

16 June 2009
