DEFRA has today notified us of the following:
“This is to advise you that the Surveillance Zone put in place after disease was confirmed in Preston, was lifted at 00:01 yesterday morning, Sunday 16 August. Updated guidance advising poultry keepers how to minimise the risk of infection on their premises has been published.
“This link provides the latest update on this. Restrictions remain in force on meat produced from poultry in the former Protection Zone before it was lifted.”
The RPRA has also had some communication from the Animal and Plant Health Agency (an executive agency of DEFRA) and a member regarding the possible requirement for registration of racing pigeons with APHA. The RPRA has refuted this and the APHA have now acknowledged that there is NO legal requirement to register racing pigeons with APHA.
