The Show of the Year Committee has helped young Joshua Freeman to receive much needed medical treatment in the USA. Just another example of the Show of the Year Committee helping worthy causes.
Josh is getting closer to realising his dream of walking, thanks to the generous efforts of fundraisers who have rallied round to bring the total within grasp. They have already raised £37,000 and the date of the operation is 25th September. A Promise Auction held on 23rd June kicked off with a great start when David Trippett, Chairman of the Show Committee, presented Josh and his family with a cheque for £5,000. When local pigeon fancier and former RPRA General Manager, Major Edward Camilleri, read about the appeal in the local paper, he contacted the Royal Pigeon Racing Association. They quickly helped out and made a donation of £5,000. The auction started with a bang and good sport, Dave Kenworthy, put himself up for auction to accompany the winning bidder to a fish & chip supper, raising a staggering £210! Everyone had a great time with a full evening’s entertainment.
The photo shows (l-r) Major Camilleri, Josh’s parents Lyuda and James Freeman, and David Trippett, with Joshua and his younger brother.
We wish Joshua the very best with his treatment.
