Northern Ireland is leading the way to recognising pigeon racing as a sport.
After many months of hard work an amendment has just been passed in the Northern Ireland Assembly formally recognising pigeon racing as a ‘prescribed activity’ under Rates Legislation. When this Bill receives Royal Assent in a few months’ time, pigeon racing clubs will be able to receive 80% rates relief.

The door has now been opened, and we will need to be vigilant to other opportunities, It should also be a lever to finally achieving official recognition as a sport.
