Further to my recent communication in relation to the new animal health laws and the impact on channel racing, I wish to provide an update specific to to our members in Ireland.
It is my understanding that due to the nature of the Brexit agreement, the issues relating to transporting racing pigeons for the purpose of racing under EU regulation 2020/692 will not be relevant to the transport from Ireland to France – assuming the pigeons do not enter mainland UK, and are therefore transported directly to France from Ireland. The relevant regulation will be 2020/688, and therefore transport of racing pigeons will be treated in the same way as those transported within the EU.
