Show of the Year funds Holisfit Project

The BHW Show of the Year has donated £1000 towards a new cancer rehabilitation project called Holisfit.

This new group will be for people who are going through or recovering from cancer, and will offer exercise support and holistic treatments at SERVE’s Therapy Centre in Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire. It will provide a full one day per month programme to help the beneficiaries.

SERVE is based in Rushden, Northamptonshire, and its aim is to help ensure that everyone who wishes to remain in their own home, irrespective of their age or disability, is enabled to do so. They provide a range of services to help people stay fit and healthy and enjoy the independence that living in your own home provides.

This day programme will consist of an hour’s exercise, provided by a qualified tutor who has expert knowledge in supporting people suffering from chronic illnesses. The beneficiaries will have the opportunity to talk with one another and provide support for each other over refreshments and a light lunch, and there will also be an opportunity for beneficiaries to talk to professionals within the NHS who will be invited to offer support where needed.

In the afternoon, the beneficiaries will be offered a treatment in one of the treatment rooms, provided by two oncology holistic massage therapists.

Jess Slater, CEO for SERVE, said “We are over the moon that the RPRA have supported this well needed project. The RPRA have supported in the past and we are so grateful that they were willing to support this project as well”.
