Weston Turville U3A group visited the RPRA One Loft as one of their special excursions (previous ones have included abseiling and canoeing) and – yes – they paid for the privilege!
Tea, coffee and bacon butties greeted the large coach party on arrival, followed by an explanation of pigeons in war (along with a few props) plus one loft and general pigeon racing.
Interest was substantial and we had more than a few converts, and suspect a few entries into the One Loft next year – all from non-pigeon fanciers.
The climax of the morning was a pigeon race from just 5 miles using Jeremy Davies’ own pigeons, along with a prize presented to the winning bird, followed by a liquid lunch in the Duke of York pub!
A great way to publicise the sport and get more people participating!
Many thanks to Julie and Jeremy for helping make the visit such a success.
