For the 10th year, Cumbria Region RPRA and West Cumbria Memory Services (NHS) organised a pigeon race from Whitehaven Harbour as part of Dementia Action Week. A good turnout of service users and carers greatly enjoyed the occasion.
The six pigeons in the race had all been given names:
- Lowca Princess
- Parton Supreme
- Queen of Cockermouth
- Duke of Moresby
- White Emperor
- King of Siddick
The birds were liberated at 1pm, to a round of applause. All landed home safely, and the result was:
- Duke of Moresby
- King of Siddick
- Parton Supreme
The awards were presented by Sheena and Jo from the Memory Team, who Les Blacklock would like to thank for all their help in making the afternoon a success.
The photos show the award winners and people enjoying the day.
