Animals in War Remembrance Service

The Annual Animals in War Remembrance Gathering took place on Friday 7th November at the memorial at Brook Gate, Park Lane, London, with over 40 organisations in attendance. Les Blacklock and his wife Meryl represented the RPRA.

After the initial minute’s silence, Mike Armitage, RPRA member of Animals in War, liberated 2 pigeons. Then several speakers, including Angela Rippon and Jenny Seagrove, gave very poignant speeches ranging from Animals in War in World War I right up to the current conflicts, and the use and suffering of animals in these areas of conflict. Following the speeches the Chair of Petplan Charitable Trust gave an excellent tribute to the late Jilly Cooper, whose contribution to the Animal in War Memorial was immense.

All in all the gathering continues to grow, and Les and Meryl are very proud to represent the RPRA, as is Mike Armitage, a long time supporter of Animals in War.
