New children’s book on Mary of Exeter

Dickin Medal winning carrier pigeon, Mary of Exeter, is the subject of a new beautifully illustrated children’s book – “Mary, The Pigeon Who Never Gave Up”.

Written by Katie Villa & Simon Hall, the book is illustrated by Rosie Race and the People of Exeter.

‘Mary is a pigeon. A very fast, rather cheeky pigeon who absolutely loves to race! So when World War II breaks out, Mary joins The National Pigeon Service, flying top secret messages across the Channel back to her pigeon loft in Exeter. But it’s dangerous work and Mary has to be very, very brave. Can Mary keep going, against the odds? And will she find her way home?’

Published by Quirk Productions, the book costs £6.99 and available from their website shop here.
